My phone is compatible with Dexcom G6, will it also work with Dexcom G7?

If your smartphone is compatible with the Dexcom G6 CGM system, there is a high probability that it will also be compatible with the Dexcom G7. However, there are differences between the Dexcom G6 and Dexcom G7 which means not all of the same devices will be compatible.

If you are a Dexcom G6 user who is interested in upgrading to the Dexcom G7 system, it is important to review the most up-to-date information on compatible devices. If your smart device is not currently compatible with Dexcom G7, you will still be able to view your readings on the redesigned G7 receiver.

Will updating my smartphone affect how I can use my Dexcom G7?

Updating your smartphone should not affect your ability to use your Dexcom G7, as long as the new operating system remains compatible with the Dexcom G7 app.

It is always a good idea to manually update your smartphone device to ensure the Dexcom G7 app is compatible with the latest version. Dexcom regularly updates its app to ensure compatibility with the latest smartphone operating systems, but if you encounter issues after updating your smartphone, such as connectivity issues or app malfunctions, you may need to reach out to Dexcom’s customer support for assistance.

Why am I not seeing my Dexcom G7 data in third-party Dexcom connected partner applications?

If you are not seeing your Dexcom G7 readings in a third-party partner application, there could be several reasons for this that include:

Compatibility

Not all third-party applications are compatible with Dexcom G7 in the United States. Ensure that the application you’re using explicitly supports the Dexcom G7 system for U.S users.

App Permissions

Check if you have granted third-party application permission to access your Dexcom G7 data by navigating to your smartphone’s settings and review the app permissions for the Dexcom G7 app to ensure it has the necessary permissions.

Integration Settings

Some third-party applications may require specific integration settings to access Dexcom G7 data. Review the settings within the third-party app to ensure it is configured correctly to receive data from the Dexcom G7 system.

Updates

Double check that both the Dexcom G7 app and the third-party application are up to date. Compatibility issues may arise if either app is outdated.

Technical Support

If you’ve tried the above steps and are still experiencing issues, reach out to the customer support teams of both Dexcom and the third-party application for assistance. They may be able to provide further troubleshooting assistance into the problem.

Why am I being asked to update my smartphone’s operating system (OS) to continue getting Dexcom G7 app updates?

Dexcom may ask you to update your smartphone’s operating system (OS) to continue receiving Dexcom G7 app updates for several reasons:

Compatibility

New app updates may require features or functionalities that are only available in the latest versions of the smartphone’s operating system. By updating your OS, you ensure that your device remains compatible with the latest Dexcom G7 app updates.

Security

Operating system updates often include important security updates and improvements. Running outdated versions of the OS may expose your device to security vulnerabilities, which could potentially compromise the security of your Dexcom G7 data.

Performance

New operating system updates may include performance enhancements and optimizations that can improve the overall performance of your device, including the Dexcom G7 app.

Bug Fixes

Operating system updates fix various bugs and issues that may affect the functionality of apps. By keeping your OS up-to-date, your device will operate smoothly and any potential issues with Dexcom G7 app will be addressed promptly.

App Features

The latest features of the Dexcom G7 app may rely on capabilities introduced in newer versions of the operating system. Updating your OS allows you to take advantage of these new features and enhancements.
