Skin Grip Diabetes Scholarship: A Scholarship for Students with Diabetes

Earning a degree is badass. Earning a degree while living with diabetes is superhuman. 

Between medical supplies, doctor’s appointments, medications, and the general cost of living with diabetes, it’s no secret that college students with diabetes are constantly being stretched thin. And then, of course, there’s college tuition, textbooks and all of the other expenses that come with being a college student. 

This is why we created the Skin Grip Diabetes Scholarship - to help ease the financial burden that college students with diabetes face so they can focus more on education and less on worrying about the costs that come with it. 

Scholarship for College Students with Diabetes

The Skin Grip Diabetes Scholarship offers a one-time $1,000 award to college students living with type 1 or type 2 diabetes. This scholarship is open to students who are currently pursuing higher education at an accredited college or university in the United States. Whether you’re just starting out your college career or working toward an advanced degree, this scholarship can provide some financial relief by easing the costs associated with both managing diabetes and covering your education expenses. 

Who Can Apply for the Skin Grip Diabetes Scholarship?

The Skin Grip Diabetes Scholarship is open to college students living with type 1 or type 2 diabetes. If you meet the following criteria, you may be eligible to apply: 

  • High School Seniors: Graduating high school seniors who have been accepted into a 2-year or 4-year program.

  • Undergraduate Students: Whether you’re in a 2-year or 4-year program, this scholarship is available to students at all levels of undergraduate education.

  • Graduate Students: Graduate students who are enrolled in a master’s or doctoral program.

How to Apply for the Skin Grip Diabetes Scholarship

The application process for the Skin Grip Diabetes Scholarship is simple, straightforward, and designed to let your personality and story shine. Here’s what you need to do:

  1. Create a Video: Submit a short, 2-minute video answering the question: “How do you live fearlessly with diabetes?” This is your chance to speak directly to the scholarship committee and share how you manage diabetes while pursuing your education. No need for background music or fancy editing- just be yourself and tell your story!

  2. Submit the Video: After you’ve recorded your video, you can submit it through the application form. Make sure you get your application in by February 3, 2025 to be considered.


The scholarship recipients will be announced on March 3rd, 2025.

Tips for a Standout Application 

While the process is straightforward, there are a few things you can do to make your application stand out:

  • Be real: Authenticity matters. Don’t worry about creating a perfect video or making it look fancy. Instead, share your real experiences with living fearlessly with diabetes. Your journey is unique and that’s what matters most.

  • Show Your Passion: Let your enthusiasm shine through. Whether you’re passionate about your education, your health journey or your future goals, let the committee know why this scholarship is important to you and how it will help you succeed.

  • Be Clear and Concise: While you have up to 2 minutes, make sure your message is clear and concise. Stay on topic and highlight the most important aspects of your story.
