So, you got your new Tandem Mobi insulin pump and you’re ready to make a splash, but there’s one question that’s been floating around in your head: Can I swim with Tandem Mobi?

Water Resistance of Tandem Mobi

Tandem Mobi isn’t just a pocket-sized insulin pump; it’s built to handle a splash or two. With an IP28 rating, it is water resistant to a depth of 8 feet for up to 2 hours. But before you cannonball into the deep end, Tandem advises against swimming, scuba diving, surfing or any other activities that could submerge the pump in water for an extended period of time.

If you’re planning to jump in the water and make a big splash, don’t forget to disconnect. While your Tandem Mobi can hang out pool side and handle some gentle splashes, you don’t want to risk it being submerged for too long and something happening to your precious sidekick.

Should I disconnect from Tandem Mobi before swimming?

Planning to take a plunge with your Tandem Mobi? Tandem recommends you disconnect before you dive in! While your Mobi can hangout poolside and handle a few playful splashes, you don’t want to risk it getting exposed for too long. Keep your precious sidekick safe and sound by disconnecting from it- just remember to reconnect when you dry off!

What to do if your Tandem Mobi was exposed to saltwater or chlorine?

Your Tandem Mobi took a little dip in the salty ocean or a chlorinated pool? No worries, it’s not the end of the world- it’s a chance for a quick pump spa treatment to keep your Mobi in tip-top shape:

  1. Rinse: Give your Mobi a good rinse with fresh water as soon as possible. Salt and chlorine are fun for swimming, but they’re not so great for your pump. A quick rinse washes away any gunk and keeps your Mobi fresh and clean.
  2. Pat Dry: Pat your pump dry with a clean towel.
  3. Check for Damage: Give your pump a look over to make sure everything’s in working order. If you spot any cracks in your pump or cartridge plastic, it’s time to call Tandem for a replacement.

Bottom line

Your Tandem Mobi is tough enough to handle a surprise splash (but shhhh, don’t let your friends know- they might still try to push you into the pool!). But seriously, it’s always better to play it safe and disconnect your pump before diving into the pool or taking part in any water-related shenanigans. Treat your Mobi like the prized possession it is by keeping it safe and dry!
