the twiist automated insulin delivery system: overview and key features banner image

Drumroll, please! The Twiist Automated Insulin Delivery (AID) system received FDA’s golden stamp of approval, and we couldn’t be more pumped (pun totally intended).

What is the twiist Automated Insulin Delivery System?

The Twiist AID system includes a sleek insulin pump, a compatible continuous glucose monitor (CGM) and the Loop algorithm from the brilliant folks at Tidepool that ties it all together. These components work together to automatically adjust your insulin delivery based on real-time CGM readings and predicted glucose values.

What are the features of the twiist Automated Insulin Delivery System?

Retroactive Adjustable Carb Entries

Ever wish you could go back in time? With twiist, you can! It’s the only AID system that lets you change your original carb entry after a meal to match the unpredictability of real life. So, if your T1D toddler decides to throw a tantrum mid-meal, you can adjust on the fly and keep their blood sugars in check without losing your cool.

Widest Customizable Target Range

With twiist, you have the freedom to set your glucose target range anywhere from  glucose 87 mg/dL to 180 mg/dL. This wide customizable range means you can tailor your settings to match your unique comfort zone and management goals.

Multiple Discrete Bolus Options

Need to bolus, but don’t want to draw a crowd? twiist offers multiple ways to bolus without drawing attention. Whether you prefer using the on-device button, your iPhone, or even your Apple Watch, twiist makes it easy to manage your insulin discreetly. You’ll be able to enjoy meals and social experiences without having to explain your every move– just tap and go.

Pre-meal and Exercise Presets

Planning on a big meal or a workout class on the agenda? With twiist’s presets, you can customize your insulin delivery to fit whatever your day throws at you. Forget scrambling to adjust on the fly or setting up temp basals hours in advance. twiist handles it all, so you can focus on enjoying your meal or crushing your workout.

Compact Size

Small yet mighty, twiist packs a punch in a compact size. Weighing less than two pencils, it’s discreet enough to go unnoticed but spacious enough to hold up to 300 units of insulin.

Fastest Occlusion Detection

twiist leads the pack with the fastest occlusion detection, spotting issues up to nine times faster than other AID systems. This rapid detection means you can address occlusions quickly and minimize interruptions to your insulin delivery.

What CGMs will the twiist be compatible with?

The twiist AID system is FDA-cleared for use with CGMs that have earned the FDA's integrated CGM (iCGM) stamp of approval. As we count down to the big launch, Sequel Med Tech will release a full list of compatible CGMs closer to the release date. Stay tuned!

What age is approved for twiist?

The twiist is approved for people with type 1 diabetes ages 6 and up.

When will the twiist System be available?

Got your eyes set on the twiist System? Sequel Med Tech is gearing up for its grand debut throughout pharmacies in the United States. Sign up at www.twiist.com to stay in the Loop (pun totally intended...again!).
